The Pros and Cons of Cast Iron Pots and Pans

Cookware made of cast iron has been used for ages. Many cooks absolutely love cooking with them and it’s a great choice for many recipes.

Advantages

  • Good conductivity
  • Good heat retention
  • Best for Deep Frying
  • Last forever

Disadvantages

  • Very heavy
  • Need special care: Don’t wash, just heat to high heat after cooking and scrape off the residue. Occasionally heat with salt in it then wipe clean and rub with oil.
  • If not cared for properly cast iron pots and pans rust.
