Go in anyone’s kitchen and open the drawer and you’ll find knives galore of every size, shape, and color. Here are the four knives that you will ever need to cook with in your kitchen at home:
- An 8 or 10 inch Chef Knife for cutting/chopping large items like potatoes and large cuts of meat.
- A paring knife for peeling/cutting fruits and other small tasks like onions, oranges, and garlic.
- A slicer with a serrated blade great for slicing bread, tomatoes, roasts, or anything that has a crust or firm skin like bread and crispy roasts.
- An 8 inch straight edge carving/slicing knife. Some chefs call it an “office” knife because it’s great for medium tasks like carrots, cucumbers, and fish.
